Dr. Jim Taylor is a native of Columbia, SC. He has worked in public education for over 40 years, having served as a teacher, school psychologist, hearing officer, director of alternative programs, high school principal, executive director, assistant superintendent, and associate superintendent. He has worked in school systems in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
Dr. Taylor earned three degrees (PhD, MA, & BA) from the University of South Carolina, and he completed additional graduate work at Auburn University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His experiences in the field of education have allowed him to develop an expertise in the areas of action planning; student discipline; leadership development; classroom management; site assessment; school leadership; and strategies for dropout prevention.
Dr. Taylor released his first book in 2018, titled From Unequal to Unwanted: Reforms Needed to Improve K-12 Public and Higher Education. The book calls for educators and policymakers to confront real issues and provides evidence-based strategies to create real reform.
Currently, Dr. Taylor works as a consultant with Taylor & Taylor Education Consultants, LLC., a firm he co-owns with his wife; and he serves on the board of the Gwinnett County Division of Family and Children Services. Dr. Taylor is also the founder and president of a non-profit organization called Black Men United for Children and Humanity, which was formed to advocate for all children and citizens of Gwinnett County who need a strong voice to articulate their concerns with public and higher education.
Dr. Wandy Taylor has 23 years of experience as an administrator in public education. She has worked in South Carolina and Georgia as a counselor, assistant principal, director of early childhood development, and principal. In addition, she worked 15 years in the corporate sector as a director of human resource services.
Dr. Taylor holds an Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University, an Ed.S in Educational Administration from the University of West Georgia, a M.Ed from South Carolina State University and a BA from the University of South Carolina. Her experiences in the field of education have allowed her to develop an expertise in the areas of leadership development; instructional leadership; Title I planning; culturally responsive pedagogy; site assessment; early childhood education; and building effective school-community partnerships.
Dr. Taylor is the CEO of Taylor & Taylor Education Consultants, LLC., a company she co-owns with her husband. She also works as a performance consultant with the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement (GLISI) https://glisi.org/team/.
